Onn Tablet: Exploring the Features and Capabilities of the Tablet

Walmart sells everything at reasonable costs. Onn, its electronics brand, sells TVs, headphones, computer accessories, and tablets. The basic 8-inch IPS LCD panel has 1,280 x 800 pixels. The Walmart Onn’s screen is hardly viewable outside in direct sunshine or bright lighting due to the glass’s reflection. I also observed that it stutters while scrolling across a web page or watching a fast-motion video, but that’s presumably due to its processing capability, which we’ll discuss soon.

Be careful when holding the Walmart Onn because the speaker is on the rear and might muff the sound. Its low sound quality and lack of bass are expected. It can get loud, but turning it up lowers the quality and makes the tablet tremble.

Play Store On Vanilla Android

This near-vanilla Android 9.0 experience will appeal to many and give it an edge against Amazon’s Fire tablets. New and updated applications and games are slower on the Amazon App Store than on the Play Store. The Walmart Onn has 16GB of internal storage, with 10GB free out of the box, but a MicroSD card slot allows extension.

In addition to terrible performance, the Walmart Onn has the lowest battery life we’ve tested. It lasted 3 hours and 20 minutes on our Wi-Fi video streaming test with maximum brightness. The Amazon Fire 7 (2019), which lasted 4 hours and 25 minutes, was the second worst performance.

Walmart does not list the Onn tablet’s battery capacity but claims five hours of mixed-use. I was always astonished at how fast it ran out. This tablet should stay near an outlet. The Walmart Onn comes with a USB-to-MicroUSB cord and charger and charges in around 2.5 hours. Budget tablets are the last holdout for MicroUSB ports, but I’d like to see them move to reversible USB-C, especially since youngsters often buy inexpensive tablets and need help to plug in Micro USB cables, which break ports.

The one. Features one 92dB rear-firing speaker. Audio sounds fine at low volumes but tinny and flat when turned up. Listening to Instagram stories is acceptable, but streaming multimedia is unlikely.
