If you’re looking for a printer with more features, go elsewhere than Canon’s imageClass MF275dw (219.99 dollars). The MF275dw offers less in certain respects and trade-offs in others than other printers in Canon’s MF260 II series. It’s cheaper than rival models like the imageClass MF269dw II and has many of the same features, but its print and scan capabilities fall short of those of the MF269dw II.

It’s roughly the same price as the imageClass MF264dw II, has the same functions (including faxing), but needs help to keep up with it regarding paper capacity. However, its paper-handling capacity is sufficient for your needs. In that case, the MF275dw is an excellent option to consider if more powerful printers in the MF450 class, such as the Editors’ Choice-winning MF455dw, are beyond the scope of your budget and requirements.

Design

The Canon imageClass MF275dw, in its standard black finish, is a handsome choice for any business. It features a satiny finish and rounded corners, and the central panel may be tilted up for use in a standing position. Thanks to its large touchscreen (3.5 inches, six lines of monochrome text), number pad (for sending and receiving faxes), and well-labelled keys, it’s easy to use. An energy-saver button illuminates at the top right to let you know when it turns off to save power. If you want to scan or copy, you can activate the printer by touching that or the home button.

Despite its towering 14.4 inches, its base is just 15.4 by 14.6 inches. The depth is now 19 inches when the paper tray is fully extended. It’s lightweight at just 24—7 pounds, making assembly and relocation a breeze. The flatbed scanner and automatic document feeder (ADF) on top are beautifully designed and simple to use.

Performance

Regarding speed, the Canon imageClass MF275dw stands out among budget printers. Usually, laser printers are faster than inkjets, but this one is lightning-fast. At a rate of 30 pages per minute, it takes 2 seconds to read a single page. The next page is ready for me to read in what seems like the blink of an eye. Although it doesn’t happen instantly, it only takes 5.3 seconds to render the first page and speeds up considerably after that. Cover paper as thick as 65-pound bond is no problem for this printer. To get the best results when printing black and white photos, set the imageClass MF275dw to high quality and adjust the density to accommodate dark photographs. Even so, the images look somewhat blurry.

Special features

In addition to printing and scanning, the Canon imageClass MF275dw also serves as a facsimile machine. The giant touchscreen, a PC, or the mobile app provide speedy and straightforward use. The initial toner cartridge was already fitted and functioning well straight from the package. The giant touchscreen made setup a breeze. When I linked the Canon imageClass MF275dw to my wireless network, it was immediately detected by all of my devices. The flatbed scanner has quiet, sturdy hinges, making it feel like an office copier. The document feeder and printer make it easy even when copying two-sided papers. Canon didn’t skimp on the imageClass MF275dw, and it shows: the automatic document feeder (ADF) rarely fails. Since I don’t have a landline, I couldn’t try the fax functionality. The imageClass MF273dw can save you $10 if you use something other than it for faxing. The differences are a smaller five-line display and the inability to send faxes. Otherwise, it’s the same printer.

Software and compatibility

The Canon Print app, compatible with the imageClass MF275dw, is offered for iOS and Android. Wireless printing and scanning to a mobile device are simplified. A smartphone’s copy feature allows users to photograph an item, adjust the camera’s angle, and print the result without physically going to a printer. However, it would help if you were connected to the same Wi-Fi network to transfer the information to the printer. Canon’s built-in document scanner app is convenient. However, many more document scanner apps are available for iOS and Android. After installing the necessary drivers and extra applications, Canon makes printing and scanning from Windows and macOS very easy. If you’d instead not use wireless, there’s a USB port available. The imageClass MF275dw may be shared from a computer via a USB cable and Windows’ built-in printer sharing feature.
