Design and Comfort Is Good
Their sleek, spherical form and compact charging case make the Google Pixel Buds (2nd Gen) stand out. A spatial vent reduces occlusion, making the earbuds comfy and secure. These ergonomically designed earphones are stylish and long-lasting. The Pixel Stand is as dull as a wireless charger, it seems. It’s white and gray and lacks the first-gen’s innovative, simple design. This is presumably because it supports 23W wireless charging and is beefier. Due to its power, Google had to cool the Pixel Stand 2 with a modest fan hidden under its bland casing.
When you drop your phone on the stand, a little LED in the bottom lip temporarily lights up to indicate charging. The bottom lip holds it effectively; however, moving the frame will relocate the phone. The Pixel 6 Pro moves more due to its height. All photographs in this article show the Pixel 6 on the Pixel Stand 2. Pixel Stand 2 isn’t great for wireless-charging earphones. Most earphones won’t line up with the charging coils in the middle when propped up on the stand.
Comes With Impressive Charging Quality
A $79 wireless charger should provide more than quick top-up speeds. Luckily, the Pixel Stand 2nd Gen has additions you won’t find on third-party options. Since Google Pixel customers can turn their phones into little Nest Hub smart displays with full smartphone functions, they get the best price. The Pixel Stand 2nd Gen cannot be fully utilized without sideloading the recently removed December 2021 update, a major aggravation for Pixel 6 and 6 Pro owners.
In addition, if you don’t finish the on-screen setup, charging appears to be limited to 21W for the Pixel 6 and 23W for the Pixel 6 Pro. Only a few Pixel 6 series users can use the new Pixel Stand, at least as of this review. It’s irritating and perplexing, but your phone will charge while you can’t use new features. Pixels 3 and 5 can’t charge at these speeds but have additional features.
Wow! The Sound Quality Is So Rich
Google Pixel Buds’ sound quality is their main draw. Custom-designed 12mm dynamic speaker drivers provide these earphones with rich, vivid sounds. The Google Pixel Buds (2nd Gen) strive to create a balanced and compelling sound profile for your favorite music or podcast.
Smooth Google Assistant Integration
Google Pixel Buds’ Google Assistant integration shows Google’s dedication to seamless connectivity. Touch or voice controls provide real-time language translation, alerts, and music playback. The hands-free experience shows how technology and software make these earphones distinct.
Performance and Features Is Minimal
The Pixel Stand 2 is known for its increased charging power. The first-generation stand could only handle 10W, while the new one can handle 23W for the Pixel 6 Pro and 21W for the Pixel 6. Some wireless chargers are faster, but it’s still a major advance for Google—older Pixel phones used 18W cable charging. Does the Pixel Stand 2 charge phones quickly? Yes, although probably not as soon as you think. Wireless charging speeds are hard to measure, so I can’t give you the real-world wattage over time. The Pixel Stand 2 charges as fast as the 30W cable charger when the phone is low. That 0–50% block goes rapidly; however, charging slows significantly as the battery fills.
Pixel 6 and 6 Pro charge cycles take roughly two hours and a little longer, respectively, in my tests. If you drain your phone almost completely before charging it, the Pixel Stand 2 is better. Pixel Stand 2 isn’t much use if you only drain it to 70% before docking. An internal cooling fan is needed since the stand operates at high speeds. It runs sometimes, but you’ll notice it. Its high-pitched whine distinguishes the little fan from my office sounds. My desktop PC and Pixel Stand are roughly equal distances apart. The stand’s fan is louder than my PC’s six fans. I appreciate that the silent and max toggles govern charging speed. Naturally, quiet charges slower to prevent fan spin. The maximum setting approaches full charging speed; however, the fan runs virtually continually.
Pros and Cons Of Google Pixel (2nd Gen)

15W Qi EPP support | Design lacks inspiration and is costly |

Should you buy Google Pixel (2nd Gen)?
Probably yes or no, just because of the price. Google wants $80, which is too much. Pixel Stand 2 wireless chargers are strong. The 21-23W Pixel charging is convenient and can quickly charge Qi devices up to 15W. I could overlook issues with a cheaper starter gadget, but this is Google. This firm has the funds to create a great wireless charger. Yet here we are. You love your Pixel 6 and want the greatest experience. The Pixel Stand 2 will assist, if only for quicker wireless charging. You should save $80 if you don’t mind using a cable or slower wireless charging. A satisfactory wireless charger that can reach 12W on the Pixel 6 costs less than half as much, and 12W is no joke.
