New details are emerging as Samsung’s Galaxy S24 announcement event approaches. The latest leaks include high-quality photographs and data on the Galaxy S24 series’ AI features, including a Pixel 8 Magic Eraser clone.

Today, @MysteryLupin on Twitter/X posted an excerpt from Galaxy S24 marketing materials highlighting numerous significant features. The previously mentioned Live Translate function uses AI to translate phone calls.

Zooming in with “Nightography Zoom” improves low-light images. Samsung’s camera suite includes telephoto lenses, but they’re not always utilized in low light so AI may improve them. “High Resolution,” which only references the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 200MP main camera, and “Screen Display”—presumably unfinished language—describe the “brighter, flatter screen” that “gives you more room to do what you love.”

A user shares her excitement:

While there may be variances, this seems similar to Google’s Magic Eraser on the Pixel 8 series, which requires Google Photos backup and an internet connection, which was a point of dispute once released. Even if the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s on-device AI is superior to Google’s Tensor processors, Samsung still needs an internet connection for this feature. The leaked docs say all three Galaxy S24 models will support the feature. In the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, Google streamlined complicated AI algorithms in proprietary apps with mixed results. Good news: Google Photos’ new magic rubber tool generates five altered photos and lets you choose the best one, like DALL-E 2. Call functions also depend on the Assistant’s better human speech. However, the Pixel 8’s AI-powered Face Unlock suffers in low light.

How will Samsung’s AI features compare?

We may see text-to-image smartphone wallpapers or updated Samsung drawing tools. I imagine an AI-powered Pen Up sketch app that auto-completes or refines drawings. Users could easily navigate the new phone with a smarter Bixby. Set up a bedtime routine that changes your phone’s settings with a simple prompt. It seems like you need a professional degree to appreciate Samsung Galaxy phones’ features completely.

Another user shares:

TalkGPT-inspired Bixby might compress all of that and let customers maximize their smartphone. Samsung’s new Exynos 2400 processors, which are better at AI computing, will make this possible. How Samsung incorporates new AI capabilities and increasing computational power into phone use will be essential. Simple chatbot app access won’t excite users like Google’s supercharged Photos app. Samsung, like Google, may highlight the Galaxy S24’s supposed AI capabilities because hardware leaks are less enticing.
