The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is one of the best new phones of 2020. It has the best camera for Android and the most amicable screen of any phone. There isn’t much else we can recommend, but this is the only phone with a pen. This powerful “everything phone” will cost you a lot of money.
The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has a new camera that can take very close pictures of you and charge a lot of money for them. You might ask yourself, “Do I need an ‘everything phone’?” when you see how much Samsung’s business-class phone costs. It’s the best Android camera phone of 2020 because it has 50x digital zoom, 5x optical zoom, fun picture effects, and an easy-to-use camera app layout. Friends will be impressed by the 960fps super slow-motion movies we took, even though they can only be done on the Galaxy S9 Plus. You can also take pictures with the Samsung S Pen pen.

What does the ethereal golden colour of the Note 20 Ultra mean? Is it still possible to find fingerprints?
My review unit of the Note 20 Ultra has a beautiful, mysterious brown colour. It still has a lively sheen and soft shimmer, making it look elegant without being too flashy. In some lights, it looks like rose gold. The matte finish makes it hard to see fingerprints on the back.
I still use both my fingers and the S Pen to use my phone, even though I like the S Pen better for keeping the screen clean. The shiny glass backs of mystic white and mystic black are something I haven’t seen in person yet.
How well does the screen work?
The screen update rate 120Hz on the 6.9-inch display is better and more practical than Samsung’s first attempt with the Galaxy S20 Plus and S20 Ultra. The display is also apparent and crisp. In the “Adaptive” motion smoothness setting, which is the default, turn on 120Hz refresh for scrolling and other features that work better with a faster screen. When unused, the screen will switch to 60Hz to save power. To cut it down even more, you can switch to 60Hz.
Will the Note 20 Ultra’s curved shape be functional in 2020?
The way the edge of a waterfall looks smooth and wraps around you is beautiful. I wanted to put the cursor exactly where I wanted it on the Note 20 Ultra’s true edge-to-edge display. Still, holding the phone while typing or navigating often opened other apps or features by accident, especially when I was lying down or even closed the one I was trying to use. Having more grip for better touch resistance at the edges would be great.
Price and Date Of Release
After it was announced on August 5, you could start pre-ordering the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The phone came out on Friday, August 21. Even though there are no longer any pre-order bonuses for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, you can still get deals on the phone. The ‘cheapest’ Galaxy Note 20 Ultra costs $1,299, £1,179, or $1,849 in Australia. The US version only has 128GB of storage, which isn’t enough for heavy users. On the other hand, the UK and Australian versions have 256GB, which is plenty.
That comes to $54.16 monthly in the US for the 128GB version with a 24-month deal. Each model has a microSD card slot and 12 GB of RAM, as usual. The most expensive Note 20 Ultra in Australia costs $1,449, £1,279, or $2,199. It has 512 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM. For AU$1,849, you can get a version of the phone that only works with 4G in Australia, but not in the US or UK. It’s possible to find it for less now, but these are the prices at the start. No matter what, this phone is still pretty pricey.
What kind of glass protects the camera and phone?
The new Gorilla Glass Victus from Samsung covers the front and back of the Note 20 Ultra. Gorilla Glass 6 can only handle a fall of 1.6 metres (5.25 feet), but Corning says their cover material can handle falls of up to 2 metres (6.5 feet) and is twice as scratch-resistant.
On the other hand, because the camera module sticks out and is covered with Gorilla Glass 6, it should be more likely to break than the rest of the phone if it falls. Before, every picture I tried to take was ruined by a broken glass covering my lens. A case could be constructive in a fall by spreading the weight and taking up space.
Did you hear about how the Ultra’s camera bulges out?
I called the design “Siren meets Cyclops” when I first got the Samsung test unit. Even though the style is good, the size is too big. Most people don’t like how great the Note 20 Ultra is when you put it on a flat surface, like a table, and use the S Pen to write or navigate. This problem has been seen in everything we’ve tried.
Regarding other Galaxy phones, how good is this one’s fingerprint reader?
Yes. Fingerprint reading mistakes do happen, but they are very uncommon, and most of the time, I get it right on the second try. This makes handling mobile payments a lot easier. Here’s a pro tip for now: we have the S10: Add two lines for your main thumb, one line for your other thumb, and one line for your dominant index finger. Your fingerprint can be saved in four different ways.
It has what kind of battery life?
The Note 20 Ultra’s 4,500 mAh battery lasted much longer during my tests, even though it was smaller than the S20 Ultra’s 5,000 mAh battery. Since I’m not hot-spotting for hours on the way to work or going out from dawn until dusk, it’s harder to make generalisations. It has a good battery life, which is not great, but it will get you through an everyday day. There was almost no visible battery drain, even on my busiest days. I could use Google Maps for about 1.5 hours and talk on the phone for nearly an hour. Taking two-hour conference calls while walking doesn’t bother me very often. We will post the results of our more official lab tests in New York here as soon as they are ready.
What’s unique about the Note 20 Ultra’s S Pen?
The 120Ghz update rate of the S Pen makes writing go much faster. The delay has generally decreased; Samsung says it is now less than nine milliseconds. I also believe my writing is better organised. All of Samsung’s updates are always nice, like the ones that let you import PDFs and automatically straighten handwriting. On the other hand, the five new air movements were just for fun. It’s nice that they can be customised, but I still haven’t figured out how to make them work with my home life, and learning the motions takes a lot of slow, careful movement.

Final Choice
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is excellent as a smartphone and a partner device. It will be much easier to do many daily tasks once you know how to use the S-Pen and its amazing camera features. You will likely be happy with this phone if you can afford it and don’t mind its size. However, the price is too high for most people, and even fewer need those features. This investment isn’t required, but it’s nice to have. Many people might be better off with the Galaxy Note 20 or Galaxy S20, more standard phones.
The Galaxy Note 20, which is much cheaper but still very high-end, is an excellent choice if you want a high-end Galaxy Note for the S-Pen but aren’t too worried about the cameras. Samsung has only sold the bigger Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, a version that doesn’t have 5G in India. Other significant differences are that the smaller model doesn’t have a microSD card slot or UWB and is made of plastic instead of glass. It also has a flat 60Hz full-HD+ screen instead of a rounded 120Hz QHD+ screen, and the S-Pen responds more slowly.
