iBall Compbook Excelance: Review
iBall CompBook Excelance has released a cheap laptop called the iBall Excelance. It weighs only 1.1 kg, which makes it easy to carry around everywhere. This blue device runs on Windows 10 OS and has an 11.6-inch HD screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. It has a 1.33 GHz to 1.83 GHz burst clock Intel Atom Z3735F Quad-core processor and 2GB DDR3 RAM. On the memory front, it has 32GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 64GB with a Micro SD card.
iBall CompBook Excelance has a 0.3MP VGA webcam for video calls and a touchpad that can handle multiple touches and recognizes some gestures as shortcuts. For example, you can pinch and spread your two fingers to zoom in and out or drag three fingers away from you on the touchpad to see all the open windows. It has a big 10000 mAh battery, which the company says can last for up to 8.5 hours of use, 31 hours of standby, 25 hours of music playback, and 8.5 hours of video playback. Bluetooth, WiFi, 2 USB 2.0 ports, a Mini HDMI port, and a single 3.5mm combo jack for a mic and headphones are all ways to connect to the device.

Build And Display
We liked how well the iBall CompBook Excelance was put together. Since it’s supposed to be the “cheapest Windows 10 laptop in the world,” it should be no surprise that it’s made of plastic. Even a single drop didn’t seem like it would break the laptop. We did not try our luck.
The back of the screen has a textured design that makes it easy to hold on to. This keeps the laptop from looking too cheap and boring. On the back is a logo for the company and the Compbook brand. Under the Compbook Excelance, there is a plain, flat, smooth design. Since there is no clutch-like opening, users cannot get to the battery or other parts inside the laptop. Using a screwdriver to take it apart would let you get to them, but it would also void the warranty on the laptop.
There is a USB port, a mini HDMI port, and a circular charging slot on one side. On the other side is a 3.5mm headphone jack, another USB port, and a microSD card slot (up to 64GB). Even though these ports might only meet some of a customer’s needs, they make sense given that the laptop costs Rs 9,999 and is aimed at young people and students. Overall, the iBall Compbook Excelance looks like something other than a cheap laptop, at least based on how it’s made. Also, because of how it is made and how big it is, it is one of the lightest laptops we have ever seen. The device is easy to carry around and doesn’t take up much space.
Performance
When it comes to the performance of the world’s cheapest Windows 10 laptop, it might be the laptop’s Achilles heel. The Intel Atom Z3735 Quad-core processor and 2GB DDR3 RAM power the iBall CompBook. Based on who the laptop is for, we know that it is meant for light use. But at the very least, it should be able to stream a live video without any problems. My iBall CompBook Excelance stopped working a few days ago while trying to live stream Apple’s WWDC 2016 event on Microsoft’s new Edge browser.
Typing
iBall CompBook Excelance’s keyboard is “Island styled,” which means it is spread out in a complicated way even though the computer is negligible. There is no number pad on the right, and the Tab and Ctrl keys may need to be noted. But typing speed can’t be measured, even though the keys are clear. This is because the keys don’t move as far. This causes people to press a lot of keys twice and miss a lot of keys while typing. Also, the touchpad is very sensitive, so the cursor sometimes jumps to the mouse pointer, which makes it hard to type.
Multimedia and getting connected
Even though the system has two USB ports, I found it very hard to use them. The flash drives got stuck, and whenever I tried to connect them to the computer, they either wouldn’t work or were hard to take out. After four or five tries, I decided that something was wrong with the port’s size. The speakers are about average and would be suitable for one person. But if you want to party or dance alone, it would be better to connect the speakers. The Bluetooth connection on the iBall CompBook Excelance is fast and easy to use. Given how hard it is to use the USB port, Bluetooth is beneficial.
Battery
iBall CompBook Excelance has a 10,000 mAh battery pack, which means that when it is fully charged, it can play videos for more than six hours straight. Also, the battery life on the laptop is very reliable, even at 15%. Below that, it goes into “Energy saver” mode.
Verdict
With a starting price of Rs 9,999, the iBall CompBook Excelance competes with other Indian brands of the same kind, which have an advantage in the market because they were there first. This means that the laptop would have to compete with others in the same price range that offer similar features and come up with features that make it stand out. Even though the price range makes it seem like a good buy, if you want power and accuracy in the things you buy, you should not get this. We hope that there will soon be a version 2 of the CompBook that pays attention to the basics of design and quality, is small, elegant, and powerful, and stands out from the rest of the market.
