Design and features

The Wyze headphones I tested are black, have low-latency and low-power Bluetooth 5.0, and are among the most comfortable. My ears never touched the speaker grills since the ear cup pads are so soft. The adjustable headband is sturdy but not too tight, and the head cushion is equally comfy as the cup pads. All headphones will now be judged by their controls. While the Wyze’s controls (noise cancellation on the left, power/up/down/enter on the right) are perfectly positioned, the Marshall Major IV’s joystick makes everything else feel antiquated. I’m not criticising Wyze; I’m simply urging all merchants to improve their designs.

The right cup has the USB-C charging port, and the left cup has the 3.5mm input jack. Your voice assistant can be controlled by touching the right cup’s outside. Wyze includes a basic travel bag, audio, and charging connections. Neither 1/4-inch nor airline adapters are provided. Wyze’s quickstart guide is concise, informative, and simpler to read than other manufacturers’ little books. All-paper or cardboard packaging without shrink wrapping is also commendable. Recycling everything except phones is easy. You can do that in most places if you try. Naturally, an app lets you EQ and adjust ambient noise reduction.

Noise reduction and sound performance

Wyze Headphones Specification

No doubt, Wyze ambient nose reduction works. Since these are over-ear headphones, they suppress sound well without electronics. Active noise cancellation (adding a phase-opposite signal to audio) makes them incredibly quiet. One set I’d carry on an aeroplane is heirs. Active noise cancellation alters the frequency response slightly. Wyze headphones sound great without cancellation and decent with it. This is the cancelling beast; however, my Sony WH-XB900H headset has somewhat less audible variation between modes. Picayune. Despite noise reduction, the bass was round and powerful without sounding like a subwoofer. Unless you love subwoofers, Is that still around? Separation? Those are headphones. Perfect. The mid-range is clear and accurate, but I’d like more upper notes. There are enough highs for me, but I wouldn’t mind more. My talk will confuse younger ears.

My statements above are about default settings. I saw no noticeable increases in the mids or highs, no matter how many dB I increased, but the EQ worked great with bass cuts and gain. No worries—the sound doesn’t need any tuning. Excellent run time, but I didn’t make Wyze’s 20 hours. I noticed 16, but I left them off-ear and loud. I could use these headphones as my everyday drivers if I wasn’t locked on the Marshall Major IVs. I’ll take the Wyze on the plane and use it for listening to recorded mixes, as those don’t neutralise noise.

Conclusion

If you want the best noise cancellation or sound signature, search elsewhere. One characteristic sets the Wyze headphones apart: Very low cost. A pair of well-designed, Alexa-friendly headphones with strong, sculpted sounds and adjustable EQ costs about $100. They have decent noise cancellation for cheap headphones, but don’t rush out to buy them. The in-ear $250 Apple AirPods Pro and $170 Marshall Mid ANC are our favourite budget-friendly ANC choices. Wyze headphones are the finest offer in this category because you can buy numerous sets for the same price.
