Curry improved his play and popularity after his first All-Star nod in 2014. Curry led an exciting Warriors team to an early 16-game win run as part of the “Splash Brothers” combo with Klay Thompson and was the 2015 All-Star Game’s leading vote-getter. Curry won the NBA Finals with the Warriors over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, their first title since 1975.

Curry repeated the feat in 2015-16, leading the Warriors to an NBA-record 73 wins with 24 straight wins. The great guard scored 402 three-pointers and 30.1 points per game, again proving his superiority. Curry knew his personal and team records would be useless if Golden State couldn’t repeat as champs. Curry rebounded from ankle and knee ailments early in the playoffs to score a record 17 overtime points in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals and set up a comeback win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in the next round. After a gruelling season, the Cavaliers defeated him 93-89 in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, ending his bid for a second straight title.

Curry led the Warriors to another Finals battle with James and the Cavaliers in 2017. The Warriors won their second NBA title in three years with 34 points from Curry and 39 from Durant in Game 5. Curry’s win was nice and anticipated. After the Warriors’ 2016 loss, he asked a friend to save him a cigar to smoke when they won again. NBA TV showed Curry lighting his cigar. “I’ve been waiting a whole year to smoke this,” Curry added.

Curry was expected to help the Warriors win again in 2018, but an MCL sprain late in the season left them vulnerable heading into the playoffs. The great guard returned in the second round to defeat the New Orleans Pelicans and then the top-seeded Houston Rockets for the Western Conference title. Curry’s 33 points helped his side win Game 1 of the fourth straight Warriors-Cavaliers Finals in overtime. The veteran guard scored 37 points again three games later as the Warriors won their third NBA title in four years with a sweep.
