OnePlus Buds 3 Review: What I Loved and What I Didn’t

My last pair of earbuds died mid-call during an important meeting. Embarrassing. Then I had to have something reliable, with good sound, good ANC, and a working mic. One of my friends recommended the OnePlus Buds 3, and I was not convinced. OnePlus is a phone maker, not an audio company, at least I thought so.

But I gave them a shot. Over the last four weeks, I have been wearing the OnePlus Buds 3 every day, commuting, working out, having long work calls, and listening to music at night. Here’s my honest OnePlus Buds 3 review based on real everyday use.

Quick Verdict on OnePlus Buds 3

Rating: 8/10

The OnePlus Buds 3 really impressed me after four weeks of daily usage. The audio is clear and detailed for the price. ANC works well in moderate noise. The battery life was more than I expected. The mic is good – not studio, but good on calls.

 Best For:

  • Daily commuters who want solid ANC without spending big
  • Music listeners who enjoy bass-forward sound
  • People on long calls who need a comfortable all-day fit

Not Suitable For:

  • Audiophiles expecting flat, studio-accurate sound
  • Heavy gym users, the fit loosens during intense workouts
  • Anyone needing top-tier mic quality for professional recordings

Bottom Line: For the price, these deliver more than they promise. Not perfect, but very hard to beat in this range.

Design & Comfort

OnePlus Buds 3 Review

The OnePlus Buds 3 are lightweight, as soon as you insert them, 4.8g per bud, and you hardly feel them. The stem design is clean and premium, and it’s a great value. I wore them for three straight hours during a long work session and had zero ear fatigue. Impressed by that.

One thing that bothered me, however the default ear tips were a little loose when I was jogging in the morning. I changed to the larger tips, and that fixed it. Small issue, easy fix, but worth knowing before your first workout.

Sound Quality

OnePlus Buds 3

I was actually surprised by the quality of sound of the OnePlus Buds 3, but in a positive sense. The bass is not overwhelming but punchy. I played Happier Than Ever by Billie Eilish, and the low-end was tight and clean. Vocals are well placed in the mix, and the mids are surprisingly detailed at this price range.

Clarity on acoustic tracks is where these really shine. I noticed little guitar details I had not seen in cheaper earbuds before.

Where it was lacking, electronic music with heavy layering became a little muddy at high volumes. Not terrible, but noticeable.Treble can feel a touch sharp on certain tracks,s too.

In general, though, when it comes to daily music listening, the sound quality of the OnePlus Buds 3 is much higher than the price would suggest.

ANC & Call Quality

OnePlus Buds 3

The performance of the OnePlus Buds 3 ANC impressed me in my everyday commute. On a busy metro, it cut out most of the engine noise and crowd chatter. I could focus on music without turning the volume up to the max – that was a win.

Where it was weak, loud building noise around. The ANC reduced it, but could not completely suppress that high-pitched, sharp drilling sound that was sharp. Noticeable premium difference.

I felt the OnePlus Buds 3 had good call quality. I took three back-to-back work calls, and colleagues said I sounded clear. Outdoors was a different story; the noise of the wind was heard in the mic. The OnePlus Buds 3 mic quality is not an issue when it comes to everyday calls without complaints.

Battery Life

OnePlus Buds 3 battery life held up better than I expected in daily use. With ANC on, I got around 5.5 to 6 hours consistently close to what OnePlus claims. During a long travel day, I used them for nearly 5 hours straight without touching the case. That was really reassuring.

What irritated me was forgetting to charge the case overnight. Woke up, took the buds, and was left with 40 percent with no backup. All my fault, but the case charging indicator might be more obvious. The 10-minute fast charge saved two hours, though that feature saved me more than once.

Real World Usage

Commuting: Every morning, I plug in, hit ANC, and the metro chaos just fades. Music is good at moderate volumes. These made my commute really enjoyable, something my old earbuds never managed.

Gym: Here things got mixed. They remained in place and were energetic during light workouts. But halfway through an intense circuit session, the left bud loosened noticeably. I kept readjusting. Annoying when you’re mid-set.

Generally, the user experience of the OnePlus Buds 3 is good for daily casual use. Just don’t expect them to survive your most intense workout without occasional fidgeting.

Pros & Cons

 Pros

  • ANC actually blocks the metro and office noise effectively
  • The quality of sound is punching above its price.
  • Fast charge provides 2 hours in only 10 minutes.
  • HeyMelody app is clean and really helpful.
  • Lightweight so that it can be used in 3+ hour sessions without ear fatigue.
  • LDAC support noticeably improves audio on compatible devices

 Cons

  • Fit loosens during intense workouts and needs frequent readjusting
  • Wind noise creeps into the mic during outdoor calls
  • Multi-device switching is slow and breaks the workflow
  • Treble feels sharp on certain high-volume tracks
  • The case charge indicator isn’t obvious enough in daily use

Final Verdict

Four weeks of daily use made the OnePlus Buds 3 a part of my routine. Sound quality, ANC, and battery life are all above their price. There are minor frustrations, such as a loose fit during workouts and slow device switching, but they are never dealbreakers.

Buy them if you travel every day, take regular calls, and desire to have good sound without spending a lot of money.

Leave them if you need pro -level microphone quality or a gym-proof fit.

Personally, I’d buy them again without hesitation. That says enough.

FAQs

Q1. Is the ANC on the OnePlus Buds 3 actually good?

For the price, yes. It handles metro noise and office chatter well. Won’t match Sony or Bose, but for daily commuting, it does the job.

Q2. Is the OnePlus Buds 3 worth buying?

Yes. Solid sound, reliable ANC, and strong battery life without the premium price tag. Not perfect, but hard to beat at this range.

Q3. How is the OnePlus Buds 3 call quality?

Indoors, clear and consistent. Outdoors with the wind, it struggles slightly. For regular work and home calls, the mic is more than good enough.
