Review

Lenovo IdeaPad L340

Lenovo’s first product in the gaming laptop market is the IdeaPad L340 Gaming Laptop. Even though it has some flaws, it’s a decent laptop for the price. For the Lenovo Ideapad L340, there are also the 15-inch Lenovo Ideapad L340 and the 17-inch Lenovo Ideapad L340-15. Both versions of the laptop are priced reasonably.

Even though the Lenovo IdeaPad L340 is cheap, it is a very stylish laptop. As of the time this review was written, the 15-inch Lenovo Ideapad l340-15 starts at $649.00.

On the other hand, the 17-inch Lenovo Ideapad L340 model starts at $899.99. In the following chapters of this guide, I’ll talk in-depth about how the laptop is made and works.

Dimension and Weight

Lenovo IdeaPad L340

There are two versions of the Lenovo IdeaPad L340, and as was already said, they are very similar. Size and weight are the main things that make them different. Lenovo’s IdeaPad L340 looks like its competitors from Acer and ASUS, with a brushed black body and bright blue keyboard lighting. But it would help if you started appreciating the materials used here because they are cheaper than their competitors.

Furthermore, the soft-touch palm rest is more aesthetically pleasing than hard plastic, even though it doesn’t compare to the Acer Predator Helios 300. On the other hand, the palm resting on the Lenovo Ideapad L340 is easier to clean. The Lenovo IdeaPad L340’s body is surprisingly thin for a gaming laptop that is still reasonably priced.

Even though the laptop’s side screen bezels aren’t as thin as those on the more expensive MSI GS65 Stealth, they are still not as thick. However, the thin bezels on the Lenovo Ideapad l340-15 give it a modern look. Lenovo tried to make their products as thin as possible, but they could still fit a webcam on the top bezel.

The HD 720p webcam on the laptop also has a physical shutter and two microphones. The laptop doesn’t have an optical drive, which is too bad. The Lenovo IdeaPad L340 has an IPS display on its screen as well. Because of this, the colours and viewing angles will be more accurate than with a typical LED display.

Battery

Lenovo IdeaPad L340 has given this laptop a small 36Wh battery pack. As you can see HERE, it has a decent battery life. Also, you must unscrew 5 Phillips-head screws to take out the battery pack. But since one of the screws has a Lenovo sticker, this will most likely void your warranty.

Storage

Lenovo IdeaPad L340 has a lot of different storage options. It has a 2 TB HDD, a 1 TB PCIe SSD, and Intel Optane storage that can hold up to 16 GB if you buy it. Your files should be kept on a 512 GB HDD, and your operating system should be on a 128 GB SSD. If you need a lot of space, you can add a 1 TB HDD.

The laptop doesn’t have a place for a microSD card, which is too bad. However, SSD and HDD storage combinations should be enough for most users. I tested a device with a 256 GB SSD. As always in our reviews, I ran a CrystalDiskMark test to see how well the laptop stored files.

Performance And WebCam

Lenovo IdeaPad L340

Both Lenovo IdeaPad L340 have an Intel Core i7-9750H processor from the 9th generation. On the other hand, an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor might also be in the 17-inch Lenovo IdeaPad L340. The Intel Core i7-9750H has six processor cores and a 12-MB cache. The processor has a base frequency of 2.6 MHz and a maximum frequency of 4.50 MHz.

The Intel Core i7-9750H is a powerful processor that can do multiple things simultaneously without slowing down. Its lowest frequency is 2.10 MHz and its highest is 3.70 MHz. Even though this processor isn’t as good as an Intel Core i7 from the 9th generation, it can still handle multiple tasks. An Intel Core i7-9750H processor ran the device I looked at.

Memory And Ports

Lenovo IdeaPad L340

Lenovo IdeaPad L340 has a good amount of RAM. The laptop has two slots for RAM, and each one can hold 16 GB (8 GB in each slot). I suggest buying the IdeaPad L340, which has at least 8 GB of RAM for optimum performance. However, since the laptop has two RAM slots, you can add 8 GB more memory if you need to by putting it in the second slot. 8 GB of RAM was already in one slot on the laptop I looked at. I ran a PCMark 10 benchmark test to get a good idea of how well the RAM worked.
