The Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 Plus, the company’s flagship True Wireless earbuds, has been modernized well. Given their performance, their costs are meager. Thus, USB-C quick charging makes sense. Additionally, additional advice makes achieving the best fit easier. However, fashion can be ruined by them. From afar, they seem like foam earplugs, which no metalhead wants. However, these Cambridge Audio buds give budget-conscious headphones buyers several reasons to buy.

Price

Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 Plus

Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 Plus was released on March 9, 2021, for $139.95 or £119.95 (AU$185). Since then, a permanent discount has lowered the price to $99.95 (or £99.95). The original Melomania 1 should be affordable if you can find a pair. The new model is meant to replace them, so they may not be sold for long. Compare that price to comparable truly wireless earphones on the market. The Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 Plus costs less than the Sony WF-1000XM4, the best wireless earbuds on the market. However, they lack active noise reduction, which may explain their lower pricing.

Battery

Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 Plus

Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 Plus earphones offer a nine-hour battery life, and the carrying case can charge them four times. This gives you 45 hours of battery life, but you must first switch to Low Power.  In High-Performance mode, the default setting, the earbuds last seven hours, and the charging case 35 hours. Bluetooth 5 supports aptX and AAC codecs, and we had no issue connecting the gadget to our devices. Once one earbud is connected to your smartphone, the other immediately asks to join. After one step, the second bud will automatically pair with the first when turned on. Melomania is an excellent earbud software because it lets you modify the equalization, find missing ones, monitor battery levels, and get firmware upgrades.

Design and Fit

Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 Plus

The Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 Plus genuinely wireless earphones are tiny matte black or white bullets. Earbuds like this seem similar to their predecessors. Earbuds are inconspicuous and protrude slightly from the ear. However, its simple design may appeal to some clients. The charging bag is a small pouch with an embroidered Cambridge Audio logo in the center of the lid and four LED lights that indicate battery level.

The side has a USB-C port for charging. The case may fit in a pocket because of its thinness (59 x 50 x 22 mm). The earbuds weigh 4.6 grams apiece, and the charging case weighs 37 grams, making the set weigh 46.2 grams.  Each earbud has a circular button on the front to control various features. Pushing it once stops or plays the music; pressing it twice skips forwards or backward; holding it increases or decreases volume; and having it for a longer time calls up your phone’s voice assistant (the earbuds are compatible with Siri and Google Assistant).

You can also turn them off and pair them manually using the multipurpose button. The button is responsive, but activating the MF button requires moving the earphone deeper into your ear, which can be uncomfortable. Because the switch is physical, not touch, you must press the earbud more profoundly into your ear to operate it.

Performance

Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 Plus

AAC, apt-X, SBC codec compatibility, and a 5.8mm dynamic graphene driver make the Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 Plus truly wireless earbuds sound amazing. The audio has depth and life due to its powerful bass, clean high-end, and spacious soundstage. Electronic beats were undistorted and dramatic, but instrument music was detailed. The music was well-balanced and represented the creator’s vision, regardless of genre.

They sound even better than their predecessors, which is saying something considering how fantastic their sound was, to begin with. The Melomania app for iOS and Android lets you manually control the earbuds by adjusting the equalization. Rock, Electronic, R&B, and Balanced presets are available. You may also manually tweak the bass, mid-range, and treble and save them as presets. You can also create three presets.

App pages for each earbud show battery life %. Find My Earphones maps the buds’ location if you lose them. The app lets you choose between High-Performance and Low-Power modes and view the extensive User Guide. Melomania’s modern style is both attractive and user-friendly. The capacity to control buds is a significant advance.

Verdict

The Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 Plus is the best wireless earbuds for audiophiles on a budget who value sound quality. These buds are so cheap that I almost assumed I bought a more costly pair.  Why are they the best? This headphone has excellent quality, a long battery life, and a sleek program that lets you manage the music. The bullet shape of these earphones isn’t offensive, but it’s just unimpressive. These wireless earphones are the greatest.
