Wiki/Biography

20-year-old Eileen Gu (as of 2023) was born in San Francisco, California, on September 3, 2003. Virgo is her star sign. She graduated a year early from San Francisco University High School and attempted to win a U.S. Presidential Scholars Programme scholarship, but she was unsuccessful. She scored 1580 on the SAT and was postponed from enrolling at Stanford until after the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. While growing up, she and her family resided in a mansion with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco’s affluent Sea Cliff suburb. During the summers, she frequently traveled to Beijing, China, to visit her mother’s family.

Nationality

Despite being born and raised in San Francisco, Eileen spent her childhood summers traveling to China to visit her mother’s family. In 2018–19, she skied slopestyle for the United States at the world championships. There are rumors that she has become a naturalized Chinese citizen and announced her intention to represent China in an upcoming international game in an Instagram post. While China does not allow its nationals to hold dual citizenship, she never renounced her American citizenship and has deferred admittance to Stanford University until the summer of 2022.

The news media in the United States and China were thrown for a loop. When pressed further, Eileen would offer diplomatic responses like “I’m American when I’m in the United States” or “I’m Chinese when I’m in China,” both of which avoided the question of her actual identity. She has received both favorable and unfavorable attention because of her nationality. She has a devoted following in her native China, who admire her for remaining culturally authentic, but she has received widespread criticism in her adopted homeland of the United States. She was dubbed the “ungrateful child of America” by Fox News.

Parents

Her father is an American and a Harvard alum, but that’s all we know about him. Her mother, Gu Yan, studied chemistry and biochemistry at Peking University in the 1980s before emigrating to the United States. She first attended Auburn University, receiving her master’s in biochemistry and molecular biology. She attended Rockefeller University in New York and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Her ideal job as a ski instructor at a resort near Lake Tahoe inspired her to enroll Eileen, then nine years old, in ski school.

Career

Eileen’s mother took her skiing for the first time when she was three. Her mother put her into ski school in Lake Tahoe when she was nine. In January 2019, she competed for the United States in the International Freeski Competitions. She placed second in the French slopestyle competition and triumphed in the Italian competition. In a later Instagram post in June 2019, she officially intended to represent China in the 2022 Winter Olympics.

She dominated the Freeski big air and halfpipe competitions at the 2020 Winter Olympics in Lausanne, Switzerland, and came away with two gold medals and one silver. China finally has its first Winter X Games champion after this woman won two gold medals in the superpipe and slopestyle and one bronze medal in the big air competition at the 2021 games in Aspen.

Eileen is a professional model who works for IMG Models, the same agency that represents Bella Hadid, Kate Moss, and Hailey Bieber. She has made it a model in both the United States and China. She has been the public face of many well-known companies, including Louis Vuitton, Victoria’s Secret, Tiffany & Co., high-end Swiss watchmaker IWC, and beauty company Estée Lauder. She is a regular on the front rows of major fashion events such as the Met Gala and the Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week.

As the face of Inner Mongolia’s Mengniu Dairy, she has become a highly sought-after model in China, appearing in everything from television commercials to billboards and milk containers. She has also been a model for China Mobile, the e-commerce behemoth JD.com, the Bank of China, and other Chinese companies.
