A lawsuit filed five decades ago charging actor Warren Beatty of coercive sex with a teenager was dismissed Friday. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles last year, was one of several historic allegations of abuse filed under a California law that allows complaints that would have otherwise expired under the statute of limitations to be filed.
Kristina Charlotte Hirsch claimed in her lawsuit that she met the Bonnie and Clyde actor on a film set when she was 14 or 15 years old in 1973.
What are the allegations?
According to her allegations, he took her for drives and later invited her to the hotel where he was already staying. Being a Hollywood movie star and an adult, Beatty would have been about 35 years old at the time. According to the lawsuit, he “used his position and status to induce sexual contact with Plaintiff on multiple occasions, including oral sex, simulated sex, and finally coerced sexual intercourse with the minor child.”
She stated in one document that she was forced to ask the FBI to open “two RICO cases for the accused and his organized crime associates.”
Reck filed a declaration at the beginning of the case stating that he had spoken with the complainant, hired an investigator to support her story, and conferred with a mental health expert, who had determined that her claims were, in fact, “reasonable and meritorious.”
Hirsch stated in the interview and in her court documents that her lawyers had asked her to accept a $130,000 settlement, of which they would keep 40% plus costs. She desired to see the case through to trial.
The 86-year-old Beatty has long been known as a lothario whose love affairs have occasionally eclipsed his acting career. He has previously been connected to Britt Ekland, Diane Keaton, Brigitte Bardot, and Jane Fonda.
The verdict
Judge Moreton pointed out that Hirsch was representing herself after her previous lawyer withdrew this year and that she had not submitted case management paperwork. The case was dismissed by Judge Edward B Moreton, Jr on Friday. Judge Morton highlighted that the complaint had not been served to Beatty. Since the case has been dismissed, it will not be refiled either, as per the ruling.
