Xiaomi unveils its first electric car, which can go 0-100 kmph in 2.78 seconds
The two battery options for the Xiaomi SU7 are 73.6 kWh with 668 km of range and 101 kWh with 800 km of Distance, which is more than the 650 km range of the Tesla Model S.

Xiaomi launched its first electric vehicle (EV), the SU7, and revealed intentions to become a top-five carmaker. Speed Ultra sedans are slated to join the market in a few months. The company’s data suggest the new electric car might compete with Teslas at launch. Xiaomi released the SU7 and SU7 Max. SU7 Max is all-wheel-drive, whereas SU7 is rear-wheel-drive.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun remains hopeful despite declining demand and a supply glut in China’s vehicle market. Its operating system, which is the same as Xiaomi’s popular phones and other electronics, should make the SU7 appealing. This integration lets drivers use the company’s mobile apps seamlessly.
Xiaomi, China’s fifth-largest smartphone maker, is diversifying into EVs as smartphone demand stagnates. Xiaomi is one of the few new EV players in China to receive government approval and pledged $10 billion in vehicles over a decade.

SU7 promises “super electric motor” technology to outaccelerate Tesla and Porsche EVs. Two models will be available, one with a single-charge range of 668 km (415 miles) and a Max variation of 800 km. Tesla Model S has a 650 km range. The SU7 can fast-charge in low temperatures and recognize barriers like snowfall. Xiaomi cars would lead the industry in autonomous driving. A Beijing facility of state-owned manufacturer BAIC Group will produce the cars with a 200,000-car capacity.
