As AI becomes the 2023 buzzword, more corporations are joining the race. Meta is unique in employing generative AI for mass-market products like Instagram. According to Ahmad Al-Dhale, Meta’s lead for generative AI, the business is launching a new AI media editing tool dubbed ‘Backdrop’ to Instagram due to its advances. At first, Backdrop will only be available to US Instagram users. This utility lets you change your image’s backdrop with a few taps. Like ChatGPT, prompts in generative AI technologies do this. Ahmad says “chased by dinosaurs” and “surrounded by puppies” work, but you can enter anything, like unicorns, several cars, and more.

Have A Look At The Features:

Start using this tool by tapping the backdrop button at the top of a new article. After editing, the backdrop tool transforms your photographs’ backgrounds based on your prompt. Your followers will see a “Try it” badge on the photograph when you share it on your story, introducing this backdrop function. On that topic, this is a fun look at generative AI’s future. It shows how easy it is to edit photographs and make professional-looking modifications.

In related news, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted the first image of its new Meta AI multimodal model utilizing Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses to “see and hear” on Instagram. Meta is giving clients early access to this feature. Instagram unveiled Backdrop, an AI-powered background editing function, today. The generative AI tool uses Meta’s Emu Edit tech and is only available in the US.

Tap the backdrop editor icon on an image to get prompts like “On a red carpet,” “Being chased by dinosaurs,” and “Surrounded by puppies.” Users can also write background-changing prompts.

Snapchat unveiled an AI-generated image creator and sender for paying users last week. In August, the firm introduced Dreams, letting customers create imaginative self-portraits with varied themes. Snapchat+ users could create prompt-based backgrounds earlier this year. Meta added 28 AI-powered characters to WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram for U.S. users earlier this month, along with Bing search and an improved context pane. Using its Emu concept, the business created Imagine with Meta, a standalone AI-image generator.
