A week following the hack on Insomniac Games, the hacker collective Rhysida released all of the stolen data, including content for the Wolverine-themed action game Marvel’s Wolverine.

A functional version of Marvel’s Wolverine has slipped onto the Internet (needs PS5 devkit), according to information from the Reddit forum. The plan for development leading up to the release and confirmation of the PC version has also been revealed. The hackers also leaked the full plot (spoiler) of Marvel’s Wolverine, as well as the cast and characters. Jean Gray will join Wolverine as a protagonist, while Mister Sinister will be a primary antagonist.  At last, a collection of Marvel’s Wolverine concept art was made available to players (below). Gameplay footage from the early stages of the project’s trial run in 2021 and 2022.

Wolverine (Liam McIntyre) in his yellow outfit and Jean Gray (Crisia Bios) are also included in the artwork, alongside Troy Baker as Mister Sinister, Brett Gipson as Sabretooth, Jolene Kim as Lady Deathstrike, and Nicole Pasan as Mystique. Rumor has said that Marvel’s Wolverine will have a cooperative survivor mode and strictly linear gameplay with “wide sections.” About sixteen hours (or thirty-four missions) should be allotted.  According to the leak, the release date of Marvel’s Wolverine on PS5 is set for 2026. With almost 170 individuals on board, the team aims to achieve alpha status by the fall of 2025.

Leaked Data Includes Marvel’s Wolverine and Future Projects

Pictures, details, and ideas for the next Wolverine game abound in the publicly available data. Everything from level and character designs to concept art and the whole voice cast and game locales are in the leaked files. Included as well are test footage and in-game animations showcasing the game’s combat, traversal, and other systems, among other things.

Beyond Wolverine, the leak includes information about other projects that Insomniac is supposedly working on, such as further X-Men character-based video games. The compromised files contain the anticipated release dates of multiple projects, both public and private, across multiple intellectual properties. Details such as the developer’s projected expenditures for each game and sales figures for previous releases are included in the data.

The ransomware group has released not only game specifics but also numerous corporate HR documents, as well as the contents of multiple employees’ computers, including photographs of internal Slack conversations. According to reports, Yuri Lowenthal, who voices Peter Parker, was among the employees whose passports were included in the first evidence of Rhysida’s hack. At this time, it is unclear whether these are among the documents that have been made public online. After the incident on December 12, Sony began looking into the hack. There was no indication that the SIE or Sony divisions were compromised, according to a business spokesman who made the statement at the time.

A string of intrusions has culminated in the ransomware onslaught by Rhysida. The same group also carried out the November cyberattack against the British Library. According to the hackers’ statement to Cyber Daily, an Australian site, the only motivation for the intrusion was financial gain, and they called Insomniac Games “an easy target.” The developer and Sony have not yet addressed the matter of the almost 1.5 terabytes of internal data that was leaked.
