Jennifer Garland, Axelrod’s representative confirmed the sad news to Entertainment Weekly and Hollywood Reporter about the natural causes of Jack’s death at 93 in Los Angeles on November 28.
Yes, the report was late however, the news resurfaced late and according to his rep, the causes of his death were natural only.
He told to Entertainment Weekly, “I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with him in his last years, as he had no immediate family…We spent much time outdoors, where Jack loved to sketch, read news articles, and recite Shakespearean sonnets.“
Jack Axelrod life
Born in Los Angeles in 1930, Jack Axelrod served as a corporal in the US Army in Germany from 1953 to 1955 before he became an architect.
Renowned for his stellar roles in popular TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy and General Hospital – he somehow always interested in acting and pursued acting courses at the University of California, Berkeley where he was studying to become an architect in Washington according to his IMDB profile.
However, the architect instead of building houses wanted to build a career in acting and hence took an acting course with Uta Hagen, the German actress at drama school Herbert Berghof Studio in New York City.

Axelrod made his feature film debut with Woody Allen’s film Bananas in 1971 and then appeared in many movies including Road to Redemption (2001), Little Fockers (2010), Vice (2000), The Lone Ranger (2013), J. Edgar (2011), Super 8 (2011), Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), Hancock (2008), and more.
He was not just restricted to movies and was part of some great TV shows including Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Modern Family, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Speechless, Ray Donovan, Outlaws, Night Court, Everybody Loves Raymond, Hill Street Blues, Dynasty, Grey’s Anatomy, Dallas, Malcolm in the Middle, Scrubs, Hot in Cleveland, and the list goes on in his long career span of 49 years.
He finally retired at the age of 90 in 2020.
