K-Pop Star Jimin’s Latest Song

Jimin, a member of BTS, released his new song, “Closer Than This,” along with an intense music video, giving his ARMY, or fan base, a unique Christmas present. The timing of the release is significant because all members of BTS have begun their obligatory military service.

Before the song’s official release, Jimin was seen dancing to it in a video posted on BTS’s official page. Jimin was seen dancing in his studio at the start of the Instagram video. Following a few steps, fellow musician V made an unexpected appearance as they walked in front of the studio mirror while their phones recorded the action. Messages covering the mirror, seemingly intended for ARMYs, included “Don’t worry, I’ll catch you soon.” I’ll be back. I adore you so much; stay well and be content.”

With footage from concerts, award shows, and Jimin and BTS’s debut days, the music video has struck a deep chord with ARMY. “So in a way, this is a fan song,” is the first line of the video, which establishes the mood. A personal touch to the poignant song is added by watching a behind-the-scenes video of Jimin writing and recording it.
