The singer-songwriter talks about her new Album ‘This is Me…Now’ and how she and Affleck are older, and wiser now.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have been the talk of the town ever since they got back together after their 20-year-long hiatus.

The couple’s love story has been through a lot, but they will never forget their first romance, a roller coaster ride of ups and downs.

In a recent interview with Variety on December 20, The On My Way singer revealed, she and her husband, “both have PTSD” from their previous first relationship, with the intense paparazzi once faced in 2000’s.

She continued “But we’re older now. We’re wiser…We also know what’s important, what’s important in life, and it’s not so much what other people think. It’s about being true to who you are.” 

Jennifer’s new album

The Mother Actress is all set to release her upcoming album, “This is Me…Now” next year on February 16, 2024. the album is like a sequel, a follow-up to the previous ‘This is Me…Then’ album that came out in 2002, the time when she was dating Ben.

At that, the duo got engaged but reportedly, called off their wedding which was supposed to happen in 2004.

20 years later, the duo is backed, married in 2022, with a romance stronger and a couple, more wiser.

Jennifer’s new album features songs about the couple’s connections, including their wedding track that the singer sang for Ben, Can’t Get Enough’. Though her close circle didn’t think it was a good idea to write a song about her marriage, Jennifer revealed to Variety, “As artists, we have to follow our heart, and this is me following my heart and doing something that maybe everybody didn’t think was the best idea, but I had to do it.”

Along with her new album, Jennifer will also be going live with the film, which in her words is a “musical experience.” 

The artist says, “You have to see it, and you’ll have to experience it to understand it, that’s why I call it a ‘musical experience.’ Because there’s music, you can see it, you can hear it and then, you’ll get to live it.”

Ben’s Comments about Jen’s music

The Gone Girl actor, too, has spoken about his wife’s new album, during a “SmartLess podcast interview in April, praising his wife’s songwriting skills even though, Jennifer had written some “negative” songs about the actor.

He said, “I do love her music; it’s brilliant, and I know all of it…The songs that have been written about me have been written by the greatest performer in the history of the world, Jennifer Lopez. I don’t know if they are exactly about me, as maybe inspired by me because there are some negative things in there. She’s amazing.”
