The MSI GS63VR Stealth was the first laptop I’d used that had Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1060 in it, and I was pleased. I can’t believe how powerful a laptop can be while still being small and easy to carry. Is it portable? The laptop weighs just over four pounds without its power adapter, according to our postage scale. The Stealth isn’t as light as an ultrabook, but it’s not much heavier than the Dell XPS 15 or Apple MacBook Pro 15.

Pros

  • The MSI gs63 is a stunning laptop for gamers.
  • MSI’s logo has a dragon, which seems to be a popular motif.
  • Gamers can benefit from using this laptop.
  • The resolution rate on this laptop is quite high.
  • The laptop has exceptional build quality.
  • The high-definition screen on this laptop is fantastic.
  • They’ve hit the nail on the head with the head in terms of GPU and CPU performance.

Cons

  • The battery life of this laptop is around 4 hours. battery life concerns; yet, gaming laptops are notorious for having short battery lives.
  • The quality of the speakers was lacking. When you are in a loud environment, the sound may become distorted slightly.
  • Could have used a “2k” instead.

Build

The MSI GS63 VR Stealth

The Stealth has 16GB of DDR4/2133 RAM and a 6th-generation Intel Quad Core i7-6700HQ CPU. Our test unit, which cost $2,099 but is now only $1,999 on Amazon, had a 1TB hard drive and a 512GB Samsung SM951 SSD for storing files. The company that made the hard drive. Does it matter to you? The 15.6-inch screen has a covering that keeps the screen from reflecting light and a 4K panel with a wide viewing angle. This is the latest technology, so don’t complain that it should have a quad-core Kaby Lake CPU until you realise that 7th-generation quad-core Kaby Lake CPUs won’t be in computers until early next year.

The GeForce GTX 1060 is, of course, the big deal. If you haven’t heard, Nvidia has taken the “M” off of the GPUs in its laptops. This means that the company thinks its mobile parts are as good as those in desktop computers. Most of the time, that is true, as you can see from this hurriedly made specs sheet: The mobile GPU has the same number of CUDA cores and the same amount of memory speed as its desktop counterpart. The main difference between desktop and notebook GPUs is that the laptop’s clock speed is a bit slower.

Graphics

The first test is 3DMark Fire Storm Extreme. To judge the GPU, I separated the score for images from the score for overall performance.  I compared my results to those of big gaming computers that are 8 to 10 pounds each. There was also an older Razer Blade laptop with a GeForce GTX 970M that was part of the package.  The Stealth is much faster than the GeForce GTX 980M in the Razer laptop and the Acer Predator 17.

But the GeForce GTX 980 graphics chip in the Acer Predator 17X is still better. But it’s not quite there. I thought you guys would want to know how we did overall, so I added that too. With its Core i7-6820HK processor and better cooling, the Acer Predator 17X easily beats the Stealth in the total score. I’ve also added the average scores I have from GPUs with less power so you can get a sense of the performance range as a whole.

Display

The MSI GS63 VR Stealth

The MSI GS63 has a 15.6-inch screen with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and an anti-glare covering that makes it easy to see in any light. For people with more money, there is also the 4K Ultra High Definition (3840 x 2160) choice. The 15-inch screen is bright, looks great, and can be seen from many different angles.

Connectivity

The laptop can connect to the outside world through an HDMI port, a Thunderbolt 3 port, a USB 3.1 Gen2 port, and two USB Type-C ports. The Thunderbolt 3 port can connect to a device via DisplayPort and can also power your laptop with up to 65W.

The keypad and keyboard

For such a small laptop, the keys on the keyboard have good travel, and the trackpad works easily. But it needs two USB ports on the right side of the palm rest to be taken out.

Design

An eye-catching black finish, brushed aluminum on the lid and keyboard deck, and aluminum heat fins on the bottom cover contribute to the MSI GS63’s stylish appearance. When closed (4.1 lbs) or opened (16 x 11 inches), the thin bezel around the display helps make this laptop feel smaller than it is. The IPS panel is the best option in this price range, as it produces vivid colors and crisp images. However, those who regularly use their laptops for photo or video editing may benefit from a higher resolution.

Conclusion

The GS63 gaming laptop might be better than a standard desktop PC in some ways, like being portable and able to be used in different places. But gaming laptops are often more expensive and less powerful or flexible than desktop PCs. Keeping a gaming laptop up-to-date over time may also be hard because laptops are often harder to update and fix than desktop PCs.
